Wallpaper* was launched in the UK in 1996 by Canadian journalist Tyler Brûlé (also known for Monocle) and sold to Time Warner in 1997. The magazine’s philosophy has always been based on celebrating every form of creativity in fashion, art, design, architecture and the art of living. Innovation and creativity without compromises are the internationally acclaimed magazine’s watchwords. The content is often exclusive, and it’s also quite varied. It reaches both professionals and amateurs with a passion for art and design. Wallpaper* also issues small travel guides focused on design in the world’s great cities – the Wallpaper* City Guides, published by Phaidon2.
Conceived in 2000 as an international index of emerging architectural talent, the Wallpaper* Architects’ Directory is [an] annual listing of promising practices from across the globe. While always championing the best and most promising young studios, over the years, the project has showcased inspiring work with an emphasis on the residential realm. Now including more than 500 alumni, the Architects’ Directory is back for its 24th edition.
